Recycling resources
Learn more about recycling collection in Harvey for residents of Kingsclear, Lake George, Magaguavic Lake, Manners Sutton and the former Village of Harvey. Beginning November 14, all residents of Harvey Rural Community will be on the same recycling system and follow the same collection schedule, on the second Thursday and Friday of each month.
Be recycle ready
- Sort your recyclables into two separate containers – Grey Box for Paper & Cardboard, and the Blue Box for Plastic, Metal & Milk Containers.
- Place them loose into the boxes, do not bag your items. The only item that can be in a bag is shredded paper.
- Place your recycling bins at the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular collection day.
- Flatten and break down cardboard boxes to save space on recycling.
Frequently Asked Questions
These changes apply exclusively to residents in Manners Sutton and the former Village of Harvey who currently use the blue recycling carts. If you already use the grey and blue bins, your recycling routine and schedule will stay the same.
- The new bins make sorting easy:
- Grey bin: For paper and cardboard (cereal boxes, egg cartons, newsprint paper, cardboard and boxboard that is broken down, flattened, and bundled in no larger than 3 x 2 feet, toilet and paper towell rolls, printed paper and mail).
- Blue bin: For metal and plastics containers (food cans, containers, and bottles).
The types of materials you can recycle remain the same. However, the way you sort them is changing. Going forward, please place your paper and cardboard in the grey bin and your containers (metal and plastics) in the blue bin. Along with the transition of curbside recycling services, Circular Materials has partnered with independent redemption centres and a network of Eastern Recyclers Association redemption centres to support the recycling of additional materials. This includes glass, flexible plastics, beverage cardboard and white polystyrene foam. Residents can take these materials to Coles Bottle Depot located at 2770 New Brunswick 3, Harvey. Learn more at circularmaterials.ca/redemptioncentres.
When getting your recycling ready for collection day, remember to: Place your bins at the curb by 7 a.m.
- Separate recyclables from garbage.
- Break down and flatten cardboard into bundles no larger than 3 feet by 2 feet.
Use the bin lids to cover your grey bin on rainy or snowy days, as wet paper is difficult to recycle.
If residents require maintenance or a replacement bin, please contact Fero at recycle@fero.ca or 800-668-3376.
Residents can keep their blue recycling carts for other purposes but cannot use it for recycling collection after November 14.
If you would like to dispose of your recycling cart, please contact Fero at recycle@fero.ca or 800-668-3376 for pick-up.
- Enhanced recycling efficiency: Easier sorting for containers and paper/cardboard increases recycling rates.
- Environmental benefits: Ensuring more materials are recycled.
- Easier and safer handling: Smaller bins are lighter, making them easier and safer to handle.
