Ready. Recycle. Repeat

Resources and information to support Albertans in recycling right!

Why recycle?

You have the power to make a difference.

Your recyclables – once collected, sorted and processed – can be used again and again, and can come back into your home as another product or packaging!

By recycling, you are protecting our environment and conserving our planet’s natural resources.

What does Alberta’s EPR transition mean for residents?

You have the power to make a difference.

Transition to the new framework will occur in a phased approach starting April 1, 2025. Albertans can expect a convenient, consistent, and effective recycling system in place that will improve recycling rates. This includes a consistent list of recyclable materials across the province.

Historically, Alberta’s recycling programs were operated by municipalities who shared the costs with producers. Now, under the Extended Producer Regulation, Alberta is transitioning to a new model where producers are fully responsible for operating and funding the entire recycling program.
