Circular Materials Finalizes Agreement to Support Recycling and Drive Innovation

Circular Materials is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with GFL Environmental for the use of the facility at Arrow Road in North York, Ontario starting February 1, 2023. This agreement supports the sorting of blue box materials collected in the City of Toronto and is a pivotal milestone as we prepare to transition to Ontario’s extended producer responsibility framework beginning July 1, 2023.

This agreement enables Circular Materials to work with GFL to find opportunities to maximize sorting of blue box materials and drive innovation in sorting and processing technologies to recycle more cost effectively and help producers achieve regulated material performance targets.

The Arrow Road facility was the recipient of the National Waste & Recycling Association’s 2022 Recycling Facility of the Year and is one of the largest most technologically advanced single stream facilities in North America.

“We have been looking at innovative ways to meet our processing needs,” said Allen Langdon, Chief Executive Officer, Circular Materials. “Being strategically located in the greater Toronto area, the use of this facility will create efficiencies and support Circular Materials’ capacity needs. This agreement is a positive development, and we look forward to working with GFL on opportunities to further innovate and drive efficiencies.”

We look forward to sharing more as we move forward with the transition to extended producer responsibility in Ontario.
