First-of-its-kind Material Access Program will return recycled material back to producers

Posted on

Circular Materials is developing a first-of-its-kind Material Access Program, which will return recycled material directly back to producers for use in new products and packaging. This advanced and scalable solution will create a closed loop supply chain, enabling our producer members to meet recycled content targets and goals across the country.

“We are excited to be able to support our producers in increasing the use of post-consumer recycled content,” says Allen Langdon, Chief Executive Officer of Circular Materials. “This innovative initiative is a new, first-of-its-kind approach that has not yet been implemented anywhere else in the world. It is a significant part of our efforts to offer creative solutions for recycling across our country, ultimately advancing our mission to keep material in the economy and out of the environment.”

As we continue to develop the Material Access Program, the following considerations will continue to guide our efforts:

  • Innovation to create a closed loop supply chain, keeping material in the economy and out of the environment.
  • Improved quality and availability of material through excellence and efficiency in recycling operations and additional processing.
  • Competitive market prices for producers and equitable revenue for the EPR program, while expanding domestic end markets for recycled materials.
  • Support for producers in meeting their post-consumer recycling goals and increasing recovery rates to meet regulated targets.
  • Scalable, producer-led solutions that work for producers and can be expanded and used across Canada.

We look forward to sharing more updates and successes from this exciting initiative as we make progress in seeing recycled materials returned to our producers for integration into their products and packaging.
