As of January 1, 2025, Deep River’s recycling program will be managed by Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system in Ontario.

Be recycle ready

  • Place recyclables at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.
  • Recycling collection will alternate pickup one week fibres (cardboard, paper) and the other week containers (plastic and glass).
  • Plastic bags are not accepted in recycling stream, this includes a “bag of bags”, shopping bags, cookie/cracker bags, pasta noodle bags, any plastic type bag (these are only some examples not the full list). The only exception to this is shredded paper in a clear plastic bag.
  • Fibres (cardboard, paper, newspaper etc.): Flatten and tie in bundles no larger than 2’x2’x8″ (60cm x 60cm x 20cm), place beside the Blue Box.
  • Boxboard: Flatten and ensure it is clean and void of food products. Please do not include plastic or wax paper liners, plastic handles, straws or metal trim. Place inside or beside the Blue Box. If mixed with cardboard, it will not be picked up.
  • Containers: These include glass jars and plastic containers. All containers and lids should be clean. Please remove lids and place both items loose inside the Blue Box.
  • Plastic Bottles: Plastic bottles typically include pop bottles, squeezable ketchup, jam, syrup, salad dressing and barbecue sauce bottles. They will have one of the following symbols on the bottom : 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7.
